What is Intensive Outpatient?

Intensive Outpatient in New Jersey, commonly known as IOP, includes three hours of group therapy, three days per week, coupled with one individual session per week.  This is a non-residential level of care, meaning that participants will travel to the clinical site for a few hours per day to access services.

At Shore Break, IOP is used in conjunction with other wraparound services to create a seamless transition to independent living.  Our standard clinical groups focus on relapse prevention, didactic lectures, life skill development, trauma, grief, health & wellness and the twelve steps.

Intensive Outpatient at Shore Break Recovery

At Shore Break Recovery, Intensive Outpatient (IOP) is a therapeutic service typically offered as a step-down level of care that follows a period of inpatient treatment.  Our clinical team in Somers Point, NJ will conduct an intake assessment with each client, where we identify individual needs and develop a personalized treatment plan.  The initial evaluation enables the clinical team to identify a multifaceted approach to care, including personal needs that span far beyond treatment for substance use disorder (including healthcare needs, long-term goals, life skills development, and family integration).  Once enrolled in IOP, each client joins us for three hours of group sessions, three days per week.  In addition to group therapies, clients receive family support, case management, and a minimum of one individual session per week.
