What is Recovery Coaching?

Shore Break’s Recovery Coaching services were developed to ease the transition from treatment/structured sober living to a newfound life of sobriety.  While Recovery Coaching often includes the General Outpatient level of care, this is truly a custom-tailored service for both the client and their family, which includes one group session, one individual session and one family support call each week.  A CrossFit membership at Saltwater Athletics is also included at no additional cost, as we are hopeful recovery coaching clients will continue to integrate physical fitness into part of their regular routine.

The Recovery Coaching Process

The process of Recovery Coaching has a wealth of benefits for our clients and their families, offering extensive support as an individual transitions from structured programming towards independent living.  The continued communication with families encourages parents/spouses/support systems to ask questions about the recovery process, understand their role as a support system, address problematic behaviors, maintain boundaries and remain peaceful.  For individuals engaged in recovery coaching, the additional support encourages accountability, structure, objective feedback, goal setting, and continued focus on recovery. 

 

As an individual’s life in recovery becomes more full (work, independent living, relationships, new life stressors), recovery coaching encourages the client to stay balanced, engaged, and to prioritize healthy behavior.

 

Families and alumni who participated in Recovery Coaching at Shore Break Recovery reported higher levels of engagement with their community and improved critical thinking.  The additional support created a larger network of support during challenging events in early recovery for both
