Recovery is not the same for everyone. For those who need strong clinical support early in sobriety but do not require 24-hour supervision, Shore Break Recovery’s South Jersey Partial Care Program offers a structured and compassionate solution. This level of care bridges the gap between inpatient treatment and traditional outpatient services.

Located in the heart of the Jersey Shore, we offer more than just therapy. Our program is built around structure, healing, and community, so clients can rebuild their lives while remaining connected to family, work, and real-world responsibilities.

What is Partial Care?

Partial care (PC) is a highly structured form of outpatient treatment. Clients participate in therapy, support groups, and wellness activities during the day but return home or to a sober living environment each evening. This model supports recovery while promoting independence and integration into everyday life.

Bridge From Inpatient Care

Our PC offers a structured step-down for individuals transitioning from detox or residential care. It also serves those whose life stressors or mental health symptoms require more support than traditional outpatient services can provide.

Support for Dual Diagnosis

This program is particularly well-suited for individuals facing both substance use and co-occurring mental health conditions. Clients struggling with anxiety, depression, trauma, bipolar disorder, or personality disorders often benefit from daily structure, emotional support, and integrated care.

At Shore Break Recovery, our multidisciplinary team understands how substance use and emotional distress interact. That is why we treat both simultaneously, ensuring clients are supported in all areas of their recovery.

Why Choose Our Partial Care Program?

Not all treatment environments offer the same level of support, flexibility, or community. What sets Shore Break Recovery apart is our blend of personalized clinical care, peer-informed connection, and a calming coastal setting that promotes long-term growth.

Recovery in a Coastal Community

Located in South Jersey, our center provides a peaceful space for reflection and renewal. We keep our group sizes intentionally small, allowing each client to be heard, supported, and known by name. The nearby ocean serves as a reminder of resilience and change, core values we help clients build into their recovery.

Flexible, Personalized Care

At Shore Break Recovery, we understand that every recovery journey is unique. That is why our clinical team collaborates with each client to design an individualized treatment plan. The South Jersey Partial Care Program offers structure and accountability without rigidity, so each client can progress at a pace that supports healing and lasting change.

What We Treat

Shore Break Recovery specializes in dual-diagnosis care, treating both substance use and mental health conditions simultaneously. This integrated approach allows us to address the root causes of addiction while supporting emotional resilience and personal growth.

Substance Use Disorders

  • Alcohol
  • Opioids (heroin, prescription painkillers)
  • Benzodiazepines (Xanax, Ativan, etc.)
  • Stimulants (cocaine, methamphetamine)
  • Cannabis and other substances

Our approach combines clinical therapy, relapse prevention, and accountability to help clients disrupt harmful patterns and rebuild a stable foundation. We focus on treating the whole person, addressing both emotional health and substance use for lasting change. Every plan is thoughtfully designed and delivered with compassion by a team that understands the complexity of recovery.

Core Services We Provide

Our South Jersey Partial Care Program offers a comprehensive blend of clinical, therapeutic, and wellness-based services. These are delivered by a licensed and experienced team, including therapists, recovery mentors, and holistic practitioners.

Daily Group Therapy and Individual Counseling

Clients participate in multiple group therapy sessions each day. These sessions focus on key topics such as relapse prevention, emotional regulation, stress management, communication skills, and building healthy relationships.

These group settings provide support, shared insight, and opportunities to practice new coping strategies in a safe, structured environment. In addition to group work, each client meets regularly with a primary therapist for individualized counseling that allows for deeper reflection, goal setting, and personalized emotional support.

Holistic Wellness Services

We recognize that healing goes beyond the mind, which is why holistic wellness is a core part of our treatment. Through mindfulness, somatic movement, breathwork, art therapy, and nutrition education, clients reduce stress and restore balance. These practices promote self-awareness, mind-body connection, and lasting habits that support recovery.

Peer Support and Life Skills

Our program emphasizes community. Many of our staff members are in long-term recovery themselves and offer lived experience that clients find deeply valuable. Peer support groups, recovery coaching, and mentorship help normalize the challenges of recovery.

We also help clients strengthen practical skills such as budgeting, scheduling, stress management, and communication. These tools empower individuals to confidently navigate life after treatment with greater independence and resilience.

Evidence-Based and Trauma-Informed Approaches

Our clinical approach is grounded in evidence-based practices and a strong trauma-informed framework. Clients benefit from therapies that are research-backed and delivered with empathy and professionalism.

Cognitive and Behavioral Therapies

  • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT): Helps clients recognize and shift distorted thinking patterns.
  • Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT): Teaches emotional regulation, mindfulness, and distress tolerance.
  • Twelve Step Facilitation Therapy (TSF): Introduces clients to 12-step principles and supports active participation in recovery fellowships like Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) or Narcotics Anonymous (NA). TSF encourages accountability, community connection, and spiritual growth as part of a long-term recovery path.

These tools help clients build emotional awareness and reduce impulsivity. They also support more intentional, healthier decision-making in everyday life.

Specialized Trauma-Informed Treatment

For many individuals, trauma plays a significant role in the development of substance use. Our staff is trained to deliver care that is safe, empowering, and respectful of each individual’s pace. We create an environment where clients can explore difficult experiences without fear of judgment or retraumatization.

Relapse Prevention Tools

Through workshops, group sessions, and self-reflection, clients develop practical strategies for identifying triggers, managing high-risk situations, and building healthy routines. These skills, reinforced throughout the program, strengthen emotional resilience and support lasting progress beyond the treatment setting.

A Typical Day in Partial Care

Structure is essential to lasting recovery, which is why our South Jersey Partial Care Program provides five hours of clinical programming per day, five days a week. This 25-hour weekly schedule offers a consistent balance of therapy, accountability, and personal growth.

A typical day includes:

  • Morning check-in or mindfulness session
  • Two focused group therapy sessions
  • A midday break for lunch and light wellness activities
  • Individual therapy or case management
  • Afternoon skills group or relapse prevention workshop

This rhythm allows clients to stay engaged, grounded, and accountable without feeling overwhelmed. As they build momentum through these daily practices, they gain confidence in their ability to manage challenges and maintain recovery.

Transitioning Beyond Partial Care

As clients gain stability and progress in their recovery, many step down into our Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) or standard outpatient care to maintain continuity and therapeutic support. These programs offer a lower time commitment while continuing access to counseling, peer connection, and recovery tools. Our team works closely with each individual to guide a smooth transition based on clinical goals and personal readiness.

Is Partial Care Right for You?

Choosing the right level of care can feel overwhelming, especially when balancing treatment needs with daily responsibilities. PC offers a structured yet flexible solution for individuals seeking intensive support without full-time residential treatment.
